An organic chemical compound based on orthoxylene. It is produced as a result of orthoxylene oxidation. In contact with water, phthalic acid may be formed. It occurs as a colorless clear liquid or as a colorless crystalline solid (flakes).
Application:
- for the production of polyester resins
- for the production of alkyd feeds
- to surface coatings
- for the production of plasticizers and dyes
- in the paint and varnish industry and in polyester polyols
- as fuel or an additive to fuels.
It is an anhydride of maleic acid (cis-butenedioic acid). It is produced by the oxidation of benzene or hydrocarbon. The substance soluble in water forms maleic acid. It is a colorless or white solid with a sharp smell.
Application:
- for the production of unsaturated polyester resins
for the production of plasticizers
For the production of adhesives, paints, varnishes and lubricants
- for the production of surface-active agents
It is a colorless and crystalline solid (powder). It is produced by oxidizing cyclohexanol using a catalyst. Adipic acid is not soluble in water; it dissolves in alcohols, ethers, and acetone. It is also a flammable substance. Application: - as a monomer for the production of polyamides - for the production of textile fibers - for the production of nylon - for the production of foams - for the production of adhesives
is a mixture (purified) of dicarboxylic acids: adipic acid, glutaric acid, and succinic acid. It is produced as a by-product during production.
Application:
- for the production of polyester polyols
- for the production of plasticizers
- for the production of polyester resins
- for bleaching textiles
- for processing leather
